
Mazda has announced that domestic orders for the new-generation CX-5, codenamed KM, have exceeded 10,000 units as of 21-June, just over a month after the model's May 21, 2026 launch in Japan. The figure is more than five times Mazda's planned monthly sales volume of 2,000 units for the model.

By grade, order distribution stands at 65% for the range-topping L grade, 32% for the mid-tier G grade, and 3%for the base S grade. Inside, the Sport Tan interior has proven popular, accounting for around 40% aof L-grade orders. Among exterior colours, the Takumi Nuri-finished Rhodium White Premium Metallic, a special paint option, leads at 25 percent of total orders.

Mazda said it will continue advancing its "Jinba Ittai" driving pleasure philosophy under its people-centric brand values, aiming to deliver meaningful everyday mobility experiences to customers.

Mazda reported strong interest across a wide age range of buyers, with particular praise for the SUV's practicality. Feedback cited included a roomier and more comfortable rear seat, suitability for car-camping use, wider door openings that ease child seat installation, and a more engaging in-cabin experience enabled by the large display and updated human-machine interface.

Closer to home, Bermaz Motor recently teased the all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 at the recent 2026 KLIMS, hinting at the model’s imminent local arrival.

Bookings are now open for the new C-segment SUV, with prices estimated to start from the RM 170,000 mark.
