Toyota has launched the new Hilux in Indonesia, bringing a stronger 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV diesel engine, a tougher exterior design and a new Battery EV option to the long-running pick-up line.
The diesel model is powered by a 2.8L 1GD-FTV diesel engine producing 201 hp and 500 Nm, making it a clear step up for customers who use the Hilux for work, fleet operations or off-road driving.

All new Hilux models mentioned in the release get a Part-Time 4WD system with Rear Differential Lock, while Toyota says it has also worked on comfort, stability and handling for both long-distance driving and rougher terrain.

Design-wise, the new Hilux adopts Toyota's Cyber SUMO theme, with a sturdier front end, slim LED lighting and TOYOTA lettering at the front and rear. The Double Cab measures 5,320 mm long, 1,885 mm wide and 1,815 mm tall, with a 3,085 mm wheelbase.
Ground clearance has also been improved, rising from 286 mm to 312 mm on the Double Cab, which should help its off-road stance and approach to rougher work sites.

Inside, the flagship V variant gets a 12.3-inch multimedia screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-inch full TFT MID, wireless charging, electronic parking brake, Multi-Terrain Select and power adjustment for the driver's seat.
Hilux BEV in Malaysia
Toyota is also adding a Hilux Battery EV variant. It uses two electric motors, AWD, a 59.2 kWh lithium-ion battery and a maximum electric drive output of 144 kW, positioning it as a lower-emission option for commercial users who still need all-wheel-drive traction.
Safety kit on selected trims includes Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, covering Pre-Collision System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Tracing Assist and Auto High Beam. Other available features include Blind Spot Monitor, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, Parking Support Brake and up to seven airbags.
There is no Malaysia announcement for this updated Hilux yet, although we do have the Hilux BEV in Malaysia already that starts from RM 226,300.
For now, the Indonesian launch is still useful to watch, as it gives an early look at Toyota's latest pick-up direction in the region, especially with the stronger diesel and Battery EV variant now in the mix.
