A camouflaged Xpeng test vehicle has been spotted on Bangkok roads, and the shape strongly suggests the brand is evaluating the Xpeng Mona L03 for Thailand. If that identification is correct, it would mark Xpeng’s next step beyond the G6 and X9, moving the Chinese EV maker into a lower-priced segment that is becoming increasingly important in Thailand.
The sighting matters because the Mona sub-brand was created to give Xpeng a wider reach beyond its premium-leaning main line-up. MONA stands for Made Of New AI, and it is intended to bring the company’s technology to buyers looking for a more accessible electric car.

The first model under that badge was the Mona M03, a liftback EV launched in China in 2024 and quickly turned into one of Xpeng’s stronger volume cars there. The L03 would extend that family into a new body style and, based on the test mule seen in Bangkok, appear to be aimed at the fastback SUV space.
Design details visible in the prototype are consistent with the Mona family. The vehicle appears to use a T-shaped front light signature, a sloping roofline and a coupe-like rear profile, all of which match the direction shown in Chinese regulatory material.

According to MIIT information published in China, the Mona L03 measures about 4,650 to 4,672 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. Those figures place it in the compact-to-mid-size EV SUV class and below Xpeng’s larger G6 in market positioning.
Powertrain information also suggests a practical, mainstream focus. The EV version is expected to use a single electric motor rated at 183 kW, or 249 PS, with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by CALB. Battery capacity and driving range have not been disclosed in the available filing.
A range-extended version is also said to be in development. That variant would keep the same 183 kW electric drive motor, while adding a 1.5-litre petrol engine to generate electricity rather than directly drive the wheels.

If the reported China pricing proves accurate, the Mona L03 could be positioned at around CNY 150,000 (~RM 90k). That would place it in the kind of price band that could make it relevant to Thailand’s expanding EV market and, if ever localised for other ASEAN markets, to buyers cross-shopping value-focused electric SUVs.
That said, the Xpeng Mona L03 already went live in Europe last week, which is an indication that the model will eventually reach our shores. It's just a matter of when.
