GWM Malaysia has opened bookings for the 2027 GWM ORA 5 HEV, with the compact hybrid SUV carrying an estimated price of RM 115,000 ahead of its Malaysian launch in November 2026.
Following a series of local previews, the Ora 5 HEV will introduce another hybrid option for Malaysian buyers seeking an electrified SUV without the need for external charging.

Powering the Ora 5 HEV is a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with an electric motor, delivering a combined 223 PS and 476 Nm through GWM’s Hi2 intelligent hybrid system.
GWM says the system is designed to provide smooth, responsive performance across different driving conditions, with claimed fuel consumption as low as 4.4 L/100 km, equivalent to approximately 22.7 km per litre.
The company also claims a total driving range of more than 1,100 km.

As a hybrid electric vehicle, the Ora 5 HEV combines petrol and electric propulsion without requiring owners to plug it into an external charger.
For Malaysian buyers without convenient access to home charging, that could make it an option worth considering. It retains conventional petrol refuelling while offering the efficiency benefits of a hybrid powertrain.

According to Stan Li, Managing Director of Commercial Operations at GWM Malaysia, the Ora 5 HEV is intended to combine distinctive styling, strong performance and fuel efficiency in a compact SUV.
He said the model caters to buyers who want the benefits of electrification while retaining the convenience of refuelling and extended driving range.
Meanwhile, GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah described the ORA 5 HEV as part of the company’s broader approach to offering hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric vehicles.

Bookings for the GWM Ora 5 HEV are now available through authorised GWM dealerships nationwide.
The RM 115,000 figure remains an estimated selling price. GWM Malaysia will announce the final price and complete specifications at the official launch in November 2026.
