Porsche’s official distributor in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Performance (SDAP), has previewed the updated 2026 Cayenne and Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé during its Buka Puasa event held last night. The facelifted models – which are locally assembled (CKD) in Malaysia – get a range of equipment upgrades to enhance their appeal, while keeping their core performance and mechanics unchanged(Image shows current model.).

For context, the Porsche Cayenne is one of the most popular luxury SUVs in Malaysia’s premium segment, known for its blend of sporty performance and everyday practicality. The Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé, meanwhile, caters to buyers seeking a more dynamic look with hybrid efficiency.

On the exterior, the biggest update comes in the form of new 21-inch RS Spyder Y-spoke alloy wheels. These replace the 20-inch standard wheels on the regular Cayenne and the grey Cayenne S wheels on the S E-Hybrid Coupé. To match the larger wheels, SDAP has added body-coloured wheel arch extensions, replacing the previous black arches for a sleeker, more cohesive look.

The preview units were equipped with the SportDesign package – part of Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur customisation options (pricing yet to be announced). This package adds more aggressive front and rear bumpers, full body-coloured wheel arch trims, body-coloured door mirrors, gloss black window trims and black roof rails, giving the SUVs a more sporty and premium stance.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé retains its signature design cues that set it apart from the regular Cayenne: a sloping rear roofline (for a coupé-like silhouette) and quad tailpipes, which signal its higher performance. It also features a second filler cap on the passenger side for the Type 2 AC charging port, linked to its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) battery.

Inside, both models share a similar layout, with the only key difference being reduced rear headroom in the Coupé variant. Both come with leather upholstery (available in Black or Bordeaux Red, as seen on the preview units), 14-way power-adjustable front seats with the Porsche crest embossed on the headrests, and an insignia on the front centre armrest – all part of the Exclusive Manufaktur package.

Tech features remain unchanged but still competitive for the segment: a 12.6-inch instrument display, a 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 15-watt Qi wireless charger, slots for rear-seat entertainment screens, and a 14-speaker, 710-watt Bose sound system. Notably, there’s no head-up display or passenger touchscreen, which is common for this trim level.
Standard equipment across both models includes a Sport Chrono clock and stopwatch (the S E-Hybrid Coupé gets an upgraded Porsche Design timer), a panoramic sunroof (exclusive to the Coupé), matrix LED headlights, keyless entry, push-button start, soft-close doors, a heated GT Sport steering wheel, four-zone automatic climate control, powered rear side window sunshades, air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), a 360-degree camera, and a hands-free powered tailgate.

In terms of safety, the SUVs come with adaptive cruise control, adaptive high beam, autonomous emergency braking, and lane keeping assist. However, it’s worth noting that at this price point, lane centring assist (which enables Level 2 semi-autonomy) and blind spot monitoring are missing – a noticeable omission for a premium vehicle in Malaysia’s market.

Mechanically, there are no changes. The regular Cayenne is powered by a 3.0-litre turbo V6 engine producing 353 PS and 500 Nm of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.0 seconds and has a top speed of 248 km/h – more than enough for Malaysia’s highways and city roads.

The Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé combines the same 3.0-litre V6 with a 176 PS/460 Nm electric motor, delivering a total system output of 519 PS and 750 Nm. This pushes it from 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and to a top speed of 263 km/h. Its 21.8 kWh battery offers an electric-only range of 88 km (ideal for short city commutes) and can be fully charged in 2.65 hours using an 11 kW AC wallbox – convenient for Malaysian owners with home charging setups.

Pricing for the 2026 models has not been announced yet. For reference, the current Cayenne retails at RM599,999 nett, while the Cayenne S E-Hybrid Coupé is priced at RM728,000. SDAP has indicated that the new prices will be similar to the current models, with the Exclusive Manufaktur package adding a significant premium.
