2027 Proton S70 RS officially announced – new sporty design, red interior, quad tailpipes, Commander Dial, 1.5T + DCT for 0-100 km/h in 7.5 seconds

Proton has officially announced the 2027 Proton S70 RS, an updated version of its turbocharged sedan featuring revised exterior styling, a sportier interior and a claimed 0–100 km/h acceleration time of 7.5 seconds.

The RS designation stands for Refined Sportiness, with Proton revealing the name alongside an early look at the sedan's updated design and selected features ahead of its official launch.

The 2027 S70 RS adopts a more aggressive appearance, starting with a redesigned front grille and bumper featuring red accents. It also receives side skirts, 17-inch alloy wheels and red brake calipers.

At the rear, Proton has introduced a revised bumper, diffuser and quad exhaust-tip finishers, giving the S70 RS a more performance-oriented appearance. However, the quad-tip treatment is described as a finishing element, rather than confirmation of a four-outlet exhaust system.

New interior with column shifter and Commander Dial

Inside, the S70 RS receives a redesigned dual-tone cabin with red accents, along with ambient lighting and a floating centre console.

Two notable additions are the Commander Dial and Automatic Column Shifter, moving selected controls to a new arrangement compared with the existing S70.

Proton says the updated interior is intended to provide a 'more driver-focused experience' while maintaining the sedan's everyday practicality.

As for the powertrain, the S70 RS uses an i-GT 1.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

Proton claims the sedan can accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, although the company has not disclosed its official power and torque figures in this announcement.

Proton will provide another look at the 2027 S70 RS during a special event on November 10, 2026, at 8 PM.

The event will combine the sedan's production line-off reveal with a fashion showcase featuring a local designer, under Proton's Performance with Style campaign.

It will also be livestreamed through Proton's official social media platforms.

With the S70 RS, Proton is giving its turbocharged sedan a more distinct identity following the introduction of the cheaper naturally aspirated Lite and Prime variants.
