First CKD GWM ORA 5 Hi2 HEV rolls off Melaka production line ahead of November launch with an estimated price under RM115k

GWM Malaysia has reached a major local manufacturing milestone with the first locally assembled (CKD) unit of the GWM ORA 5 Hi2 HEV officially rolling off the production line at the EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) plant in Pegoh, Melaka. Scheduled for its official Malaysian market debut in November 2026, the B-segment hybrid SUV is open for bookings nationwide with an estimated selling price below RM115,000.

Performance and hybrid efficiency

The GWM ORA 5 Hi2 HEV features GWM’s Hi2 intelligent hybrid technology, combining a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with an electric motor.

• Combined Output: 223 PS and 476 Nm of torque
• Transmission: 2-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT)
• Fuel Economy: As low as 4.4L/100km
• Total Range: Exceeds 1,100 km without requiring external charging

Global accolades and world record

Ahead of its official Malaysian release the GWM ORA 5 has secured several international awards and distinctions:

• 2025 London Design Awards: Awarded Design of the Year, making it the first production car in the world to receive this honor.
• TOSTEM Asia Design Award 2026: Won the Best Interior Design Award (Family Car) for its practical family-focused cabin design.
• Guinness World Records: Set the record for the lowest fuel consumption driving (all directly administered municipalities) in China by a hybrid electric powered production SUV, logging 3.74 litres per 100 km over 3,004 km.

Local component integration

As part of GWM's local assembly program at EPMB's Pegoh facility the vehicle incorporates significant Malaysian-made content. The localized components built into the production process include:

• Front frame module assembly
• Rear Axle Assembly
• Instrument Panel
• HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning)
• Wiring Harness
