Honda Alpha: Brand's first all-electric SUV to make global debut on 2 December 2026

Honda has confirmed that its upcoming electric SUV will be called the Honda Alpha, with its global debut scheduled for 2 December 2026 in India.

As Honda's first Made-in-India electric SUV, the model will be built at Honda's Tapukara plant in Rajasthan, which is also set to become an export hub for the SUV. India will be the first market to get the new model.

A new electric SUV

The Alpha name comes from the first letter of the Greek alphabet. Honda says it represents the start of a new chapter in its electric vehicle line-up.

Although Honda has already introduced the e:N1 in selected markets, the Alpha is a different proposition. The e:N1 is based on the petrol-powered HR-V, while the Alpha is derived from the 0 Alpha (0 α) concept and forms part of Honda's purpose-built 0 Series EV family.

It will also be the first production Honda to wear the brand's new H Mark, signalling a fresh identity for its next generation of electric vehicles.

What we know about the Honda Alpha

The production SUV takes its design inspiration from the Honda 0 Alpha concept, which made its debut at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show.

Honda has not released the production model's full specifications yet. However, reports suggest it could be offered with two LFP battery options, with capacities of around 65 kWh and 75 kWh. The initial version is expected to feature a single motor driving the front wheels.

Which models will it compete with?

The Honda Alpha is expected to enter the C-segment electric SUV market, where potential rivals include the Hyundai Creta EV, MG Windsor EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella and Tata Sierra EV.

More details should emerge at its global premiere on 2 December.

With production based in India and exports planned from the outset, the Alpha could eventually reach markets beyond India, although Honda has yet to confirm whether Malaysia or other Southeast Asian countries are on its export list.
