Tesla Q3 2026 results: Revenue tops US$28 billion, deliveries reach 486,532

Tesla has released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, reporting revenue of US$28.046 billion (approximately RM 123.4 billion) and net profit of US$787 million (around RM 3.46 billion). Net profit fell 43% year on year.

Tesla produced 464,391 vehicles worldwide during the quarter, up 4% from a year earlier. Deliveries totalled 486,532 vehicles, down 2% year on year.

Global deliveries and key models

Tesla reported several developments across its vehicle business in the third quarter.

North America

More than 75% of newly delivered vehicles came with Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) software enabled.

New model

The new-generation Tesla Roadster made its debut.

Record deliveries

Canada, Australia and Japan each recorded their highest delivery figures to date.

Order backlog

The number of passenger vehicles awaiting delivery reached its highest level in nearly four years at the end of the quarter.

Tesla Semi

The electric truck has entered volume production. The long-range version can travel up to 805 km on a full charge with a gross combination weight of around 37.2 tonnes, including the truck, trailer and cargo.

Energy consumption is approximately 1.06 kWh per kilometre. Tesla says this is around one-third of the energy used by a comparable diesel truck carrying the same load.

FSD expands across Europe

Since the second quarter, Tesla's FSD system has received regulatory approval in four more European countries: Croatia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

The system is now available in nine EU countries, with more than 100,000 users in Europe. Those users have accumulated over 160 million kilometres of driving, according to Tesla.

Cybercab expands its robotaxi operations

Tesla's Cybercab has joined the company's robotaxi fleet in Austin, Texas. By the end of the third quarter, its cumulative unsupervised driving distance had approached 3.22 million kilometres, an eightfold increase during the quarter.

Robotaxi operating hours in Austin have also been extended to 6 am–midnight daily. As the fleet grows and dispatch algorithms improve, passenger waiting times have fallen significantly.

Cybercab has also integrated Grok, Tesla's AI assistant, with Grok Bot and Connectors features. Passengers can use voice commands to handle emails, calendars, files, messages and to-do lists, allowing the vehicle to function as more than just a means of transport.

Humanoid robot enters production

Tesla has started production of its humanoid robots on a high-volume production line at its Fremont factory. These are its first production-grade humanoid robots, meaning the manufacturing process is now capable of producing units intended for commercial sale.

AI computing infrastructure

Tesla is on track to establish 400MW of computing capacity for AI training by the end of 2026. The infrastructure will support the development of autonomous intelligence systems for its vehicles and humanoid robots.

Construction of Tesla's chip factory in Austin is also continuing, with equipment commissioning planned for 2027.

Battery supply

Battery supply continues to limit Tesla's ability to ramp up global production. The company is expanding capacity across several parts of its battery supply chain, including:

  • Increasing battery pack production at Gigafactory Berlin.
  • Expanding cathode material production and lithium refining in Texas.
  • Increasing lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell production in Nevada.

Tesla has also delivered its first Megapack energy storage systems built entirely with its own LFP cells. Production of its 4680 battery cells continues to increase to support production ramps for the Cybercab, Semi and Model Y.

Energy storage

Tesla's energy storage factory in Texas has begun operations and started producing Megapack 3. Both the pace of new orders and the order backlog for its energy storage business have reached record highs.

As electricity demand rises and grid capacity becomes increasingly constrained, Megapack is being positioned as a way to help meet the power needs of large-scale computing infrastructure.

The systems can provide a more stable power supply for data centres, help manage peak electricity demand and support new projects waiting for grid connections. They can also improve grid stability and reduce reliance on conventional fossil-fuel power generation.

Global supercharging network

Tesla added more than 2,100 net new Supercharging stalls during the third quarter, growing the network by 14% year-over-year.
