BYD has launched the third-generation Qin PLUS DM-i in China, with three variants priced from RMB 79,900 to RMB 100,900 (approx. RM 52k to RM 66k). For a limited time, buyers can get the new plug-in hybrid sedan for between RMB 76,900 and RMB 97,900 (around RM 50k to RM 64k).
The new Qin PLUS gets an exterior and interior redesign, along with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for BYD's advanced driver assistance system.

BYD also claims an EV range of up to 220 km and a combined driving range exceeding 2,290 km on a full tank and a fully charged battery.
The third-generation Qin PLUS boasts a longer, wider, and lower-slung stance, with smoother bodywork improving aerodynamic efficiency.

At the front, the design features broad horizontal lines, while a rising character line runs along the sides from the headlights towards the rear. The sloping fastback roofline gives the sedan a sleeker appearance.
A new Island Blue exterior colour has also been introduced, inspired by the appearance of the sea in a breeze.

The rear has a broader, more substantial design than before, retaining BYD's distinctive full-width LED taillights with a Chinese knot-inspired pattern. New 17-inch sporty alloy wheels complete the exterior updates.
The new Qin PLUS measures 4,840 mm long, 1,900 mm wide and 1,498 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm.

The car is also fitted with BYD's DiPilot 300 (God's Eye B) advanced driver assistance system, which uses a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor.
Inside, the new Qin PLUS features a redesigned cabin with a cleaner dashboard layout and upgraded materials.

The centrepiece is a large floating infotainment touchscreen running BYD's DiLink 150 system, accompanied by a digital instrument display and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
The dashboard also incorporates partially concealed air vents, soft ambient lighting and extensive use of soft-touch materials.

Other improvements include additional cabin storage, a larger panoramic sunroof and redesigned seats intended to provide better comfort.
The third-generation Qin PLUS DM-i also brings improvements to fuel efficiency and driving range.
BYD claims fuel consumption as low as 2.58 litres per 100 km when the battery is depleted, positioning it among the most fuel-efficient plug-in hybrid sedans in its class. Its EV driving range has increased to 220 km.
With a full tank and a fully charged battery, the new Qin PLUS DM-i offers a combined driving range of more than 2,290 km.
These are manufacturer-quoted figures, and actual fuel consumption and range will depend on driving conditions.
Malaysian buyers may already be familiar with the BYD Seal 6, but it is worth pointing out that the model sold locally is based on the Qin L rather than the Qin PLUS.
Although both are C-segment sedans, they are positioned slightly differently.
The Qin PLUS is aimed at buyers looking for a more affordable, value-focused family sedan. The Qin L (the Malaysian-market Seal 6) sits slightly higher in BYD's range, with larger dimensions and a greater emphasis on cabin space.
