KLIMS 2026: Dongfeng Voyah Dream previewed, luxurious MPV available as EV or PHEV

While boxy SUVs may be all the rage these days, Dongfeng has brought out an MPV at the ongoing 2026 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (2026 KLIMS).

Called the Dongfeng Voyah Dream, this is Dongfeng’s answer to entrants such as the Denza D9, GWM Wey G9, Zeekr 009, GAC M8, and Xpeng X9. That said, the display unit at KLIMS is a China-market, left-hand drive (LHD), and remains as a preview for now; there's no indication of when the Voyah Dream will go on sale in Malaysia as yet.

The Voyah Dream, depending on the market, can be had either as a pure EV or a PHEV.

EV variants of the Voyah Dream pack a dual front-rear motor configuration, delivering 405 kW (551 PS) and 770 Nm, powered by a 108.7-kWh CATL-sourced LFP battery pack. Said pack offers a CLTC-rated range of up to 700 km.

Then there’s the more potent PHEV variant that packs a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine, paired to two electric motors for a combined system output of 480 kW (653 PS) and 840 Nm.

The PHEV system is able to propel the 2.7 tonne MPV from a dead stop to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 203 km/h.

Battery capacities of the PHEV variant range from 43.2-kWh to 62.5-kWh, enabling a CLTC range of up to 1,530 km – enough to drive from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok without refuelling.

In terms of charging, several variants of the Voyah Dream PHEV are developed on an 800-volt electrical architecture, which can DC fast charge from 20% to 80% state-of-charge (SoC) in just 12 minutes. Variants with the 400-volt electrical architecture complete the same 20% to 80% in 20 minutes.

Seeing that the EV variants of the Voyah Dream pack a much larger battery pack, the charging naturally takes more time, in this case, 30 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%.

Prices in China start from CNY 315,900 (~RM 191k) for the entry-level PHEV variant and tops out at CNY 709,900 (~RM 430k) for the top-spec PHEV variant.
