At the ongoing 2026 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (2026 GIIAS), Geely has launched the Geely Coolray.
The new B-segment model, which is Geely Indonesia’s first internal combustion engine (ICE) model there, is manufactured in Malaysia by Proton and exported to Indonesia.

This marks a difference between the Indonesian-spec Coolray and the South African-spec Coolray, as the latter is manufactured in China and then exported to South Africa.

That said, visually, the Indonesian-spec car is identical to the South African-spec car, down to the green hero colour (Teal Bayou Green to us).

For Indonesia, the Geely Coolray gets the same turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine as our Malaysian-spec cars, albeit detuned to 174 PS (down from 181 PS) and 290 Nm of torque. Unchanged is the seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch automatic (DCT).
Despite the difference in exterior design, much of the Coolray’s equipment appear to be similar to our Malaysian-spec X50, down to the 14.6-inch infotainment display, 8.88-inch digital driver display, and even the panoramic sunroof.

Now, in terms of pricing is where it gets interesting.
In Indonesia, prices of the Geely Coolray start from IDR 333 million (~RM 75k) and tops out at IDR 377 million (~RM 85k).

Never mind the fact that the Geely Coolray comfortably undercuts most of its B-segment SUV rivals there, but its prices also undercut our Malaysian-manufactured X50, which retails for RM 85,800 to RM 109,300.
