Chery Group has released its impressive performance report for April 2026. The Chinese automaker continued its strong growth momentum, with global sales surpassing the 250,000-unit mark in a single month, while overseas exports set a new historical record for any Chinese automotive brand.

Record-Breaking Exports

According to official figures, Chery Group delivered 251,386 vehicles in April 2026, representing a 25.2% increase year-on-year.

The standout achievement was overseas exports, which reached a record-high 177,573 units — the highest monthly export volume ever recorded by a Chinese car manufacturer. New Energy Vehicle (NEV) sales also performed strongly, totalling 100,276 units.

As of April 2026, Chery Group's cumulative global user base has exceeded 19.38 million, with more than 6.41 million customers located outside China. This means one in every three Chery owners worldwide is now an international customer.

Localisation Progress in Malaysia

To support its rapid expansion in Malaysia and Southeast Asia, Chery is making significant progress on the construction of its Smart Auto Industrial Park in Beringin, Selangor. The 1,280-acre facility is expected to have an annual production capacity of 100,000 units once completed.

Editor's Take

Chery's strategy is crystal clear: Chinese Technology, Global Footprint. For Malaysian consumers, the brand's impressive global sales growth is a positive signal — it brings greater financial strength for continued R&D investment and improved after-sales infrastructure.

With more advanced Chery Super Hybrid (CSH) and pure electric models scheduled for the second half of 2026, coupled with increasing local CKD production capacity, Chery is poised to evolve from a "value-for-money" brand into a stronger "high-tech premium" contender in the Malaysian market.
