GWM's premium brand WEY has unveiled the new Lanshan in China. The large plug-in hybrid SUV will be offered with five or six seats, pairing a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors.
The new Wey Lanshan also gets an 800V electrical architecture, air suspension and rear-wheel steering, while its boxy styling gives it a more rugged look than a conventional family SUV.

The Wey Lanshan has a tall, upright front end, with a large chrome grille, vertical slats and an illuminated WEY badge. Round headlights add a retro touch, contrasting with the otherwise modern design.

WEY says the headlights feature precision-cut detailing inspired by jewellery. At the rear, layered taillights echo the front lighting design, while a prominent grab handle adds to the SUV's rugged appearance.
Buyers will be able to choose between two body lengths. Both versions have the same 3,010 mm wheelbase, but the six-seat model is 160 mm longer than the five-seater.
| Dimensions | Five-seater | Six-seater |
| Length | 5,140 mm | 5,300 mm |
| Width | 2,050 mm | 2,050 mm |
| Height | 1,960 mm | 1,960 mm |
| Wheelbase | 3,010 mm | 3,010 mm |

A roof-mounted LiDAR sensor is among the visible equipment. The Lanshan also introduces GWM's all-terrain AI system, designed to support driving assistance in both urban and off-road environments.
Inside, the SUV runs GWM's Coffee AI OS 4 infotainment system, with Coffee Pilot 4 providing all-terrain driver assistance. The system uses a dual VLA Plus large-model architecture and is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 chip and an NVIDIA DRIVE Thor-U processor for driver assistance.
At the rear, an externally mounted spare wheel sits on a side-hinged tailgate, giving the Lanshan a familiar off-road SUV layout.
The Lanshan is built on GWM's One S (Guiyuan) platform and uses the company's 2468 powertrain architecture. Its chassis features dual-chamber air suspension, EDC electronically controlled continuous damping and rear-wheel steering with up to 20 degrees of steering angle in either direction.

Rear-wheel steering helps reduce the turning circle to just 5.3 metres, which could make the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in town and in tight spaces.
For off-road use, the Lanshan also gets an all-terrain driving assistance system and a rear differential lock. These features can help it maintain traction on loose or uneven surfaces, including sand, mud and cross-axle terrain.
The Lanshan uses GWM's 2.0T Super Hi4 plug-in hybrid system, combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors.
The engine produces 182 kW (around 247 PS). The front motor delivers 110 kW, while the rear motor produces 220 kW.
The system supports an 800V electrical architecture and 6C ultra-fast charging. Two battery packs are available, with claimed EV ranges of up to 220 km and 270 km under the WLTC test cycle.

GWM Malaysia's 2026–2028 strategy includes a broader mix of powertrains, from petrol and hybrid models to plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles. The WEY brand is already on sale locally through the G9 luxury MPV, which is available in HEV and PHEV versions.
If the Lanshan eventually reaches Malaysia, it would give WEY a large SUV to complement the G9 and offer buyers another option in the premium vehicle market.
For reference, the current local prices of the WEY G9 are:
