Proton recorded 21,624 units in group sales in October 2026, its second-highest monthly result this year and strongest start to the fourth quarter since 2005.
The result brings its year-to-date sales to 182,510 units, up 40.5% year-on-year. Having already surpassed its full-year 2025 volume in September, Proton is now approaching its first 200,000-unit sales year since 2002.

The company estimates its October market share at 30.6%, with its cumulative share standing at 27.1%. This comes against an estimated Malaysian total industry volume (TIV) of over 70,000 units for October, the fourth month this year to exceed that level. Full-year TIV is projected to surpass 800,000 units for a third consecutive year.
Among Proton’s combustion-engine models, the S70 delivered one of the month’s stronger performances. The sedan recorded 3,029 units, taking its year-to-date tally to 23,448 units, a 63.5% increase over the same period last year.

Those figures exclude the recently introduced 2027 Proton S70 i-GT 1.5, offered in Lite and Prime specifications. The new model contributed a separate 2,338 units in October.

According to Proton, the S70 i-GT 1.5 led B-segment sedan sales for the month, while its more powerful sibling retained the lead among C-segment sedans.
The Saga remained Proton’s biggest volume contributor, with 7,352 units sold in October. Its cumulative sales reached 75,589 units, exceeding its entire 2025 total and keeping it in second place among Malaysia’s best-selling vehicles this year.
As for the SUVs, the X50 added 1,925 units to bring its year-to-date sales to 22,088 units, maintaining its lead in the B-segment SUV category.

The X90 recorded its strongest month of the year with 478 units. Cumulative sales reached 3,728 units, up 75.6%, giving it the highest sales growth among Proton models. Proton says the X90 also continues to lead its segment.

Electrified models, meanwhile, have contributed the most to the group’s overall sales growth this year. The Proton eMas range has accumulated 35,730 units, with the company reporting a 33.2% share of the xEV market.
The eMas 5 continues to account for the bulk of that volume, recording 2,437 units in October and 23,189 units for the year so far. Proton says it remains the country’s best-selling xEV model.

The eMas 7 PHEV contributed another 710 units, bringing its cumulative total to 6,962 units. The fully electric eMas 7 added 616 units, taking its year-to-date figure to 5,579 units.
Pro-Net CEO Zhang Qiang attributed the response to growing demand for electrified vehicles, customer confidence in the brand and its dealership network.
Exports also reached a new monthly high, with 2,610 Proton and Geely vehicles shipped from Tanjung Malim in October. Cumulative export volume stood at 9,980 units, more than double the previous year’s corresponding figure.

Proton expects exports to set a new annual record for the Proton-Geely partnership. Deputy CEO Datuk Ir Abdul Rashid Musa said demand from both Proton’s overseas partners and Geely’s export markets is increasing orders for local vendors and improving production utilisation.
On the ownership front, Abdul Rashid said Proton will work with dealers to strengthen aftersales support as sales grow, with staff training and parts availability accompanying new model introductions.
