Proton has hit a new milestone with its popular electric vehicle, the e.MAS 5, recording 3,026 units delivered in a single month – a fresh high for the national carmaker’s new energy sub-brand PRO-NET, and a clear sign of strong local demand for affordable EVs.
Launched in October 2025, the Proton e.MAS 5 has quickly become a fan favourite among Malaysian car buyers, thanks to its budget-friendly pricing and practical specs tailored for local roads. Priced from RM59,800 (Prime variant) to RM72,800 (Premium variant), with an ongoing RM3,000 launch discount bringing the entry price down to just RM56,800, it stands as one of Malaysia’s most accessible electric cars.
For everyday Malaysian drivers, the e.MAS 5 ticks all the right boxes: it offers a WLTP range of up to 325km, perfect for daily commutes in cities like KL, Selangor or Penang, plus DC fast-charging support for quick top-ups during long drives. Inside, it comes with a 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and bilingual voice control – handy features that don’t break the bank.
Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET, commented that the e.MAS 5’s delivery performance has exceeded expectations, reflecting Malaysians’ growing shift towards affordable, practical EVs. He also confirmed that the RM3,000 purchase discount will continue, while Proton is working to expand its charging network and after-sales services nationwide to support more e.MAS 5 owners.
This strong delivery figure not only boosts Proton’s presence in Malaysia’s EV market but also reinforces the brand’s position as a key player in making electric vehicles accessible to ordinary Malaysians, moving away from the perception that EVs are only for the premium segment.
