GWM Malaysia has announced a major milestone, with the first locally-assembled (CKD) Wey G9 MPV units exported to Thailand – less than a month after the model’s official CKD rollout in Malaysia.

BMW has officially confirmed the China-developed iX3 Long Wheelbase (LWB) will be launched in Malaysia in the second half of 2026, following its global debut at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2026. Malaysia is among a select few markets outside China to receive this stretched Neue Klasse EV, alongside Thailand, Indonesia, and India.

Volvo Car Malaysia has expanded its all-electric line-up with the launch of the Volvo ES90 Ultra, a fully-specified premium EV sedan priced at RM339,888 (on-the-road, without insurance). Malaysia’s electrified vehicle (xEV) market maintained strong growth in 2025, with total sales hitting a new high of 69,363 units – a 52% year-on-year increase, according to official data from the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA). Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) remained the top choice, while Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) recorded explosive growth, narrowing the gap significantly.

Chery’s newly-launched Lepas brand is poised to make its Malaysian debut in the first half of 2026, with the entry-level L4 SUV and premium L8 mid-size SUV confirmed as the initial models to hit local shores . GWM (Great Wall Motor) was already in the Malaysian market over 10 years ago but back then, its business was managed by a local partner and at ‘arm’s length’. At the end of 2022, it joined other automakers from China to come into the market on its own and started up GWM Malaysia as a marketing and sales subsidiary. Seeing Malaysia as a market not only with much potential but also as a regional hub
